One of the most spectacular beaches along the Olympic National Park Coastal Strip, Rialto Beach, a gravelly 1.5 mile crescent, pounded by usually heavy surf,
and strewn with sometimes monstrous logs. is just 4 miles west of us.
Here are some of my favorite shots of Rialto's many sights and moods

Storms on Rialto Beach
Occurring between November and March, winter storms make a powerful impact on the beach and on the people who witness them
The photos below were taken during one of the first winter storms in November, 1998
Storm Surge
Standing Alone
Spring and summer were relatively dry in 1998. The rain hit hard in November, hurling
debris and fallen trees down the rivers, out to sea, and, eventually, onto the beaches. The views above and below were
taken at the height of a November storm, and are as follows: (Upper Left) Surf exploding onto the beach. (Upper Right) Tree trying to stand up to the surge
(Lower left) Lynne and the dogs investigating the thick, blowing froth (Lower right) a tangle of fresh logs thrown up on the beach.
It's worth noting that solitude is not hard to find here on a day like this
